Blue whale- The biggest living animal

There are at least three distinct subspecies: B. m. musculus of the North Atlantic and North Pacific, B. m. intermedia of the Southern Ocean and B. m. brevicauda (also known as the pygmy blue whale) found in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific Ocean. B. m. indica, found in the Indian Ocean, may be another subspecies

That distinction goes to the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus), the largest animal on Earth. The orca's size of up to 31 feet (9.4 meters) makes it the largest dolphin. The sperm whale, on the other hand, may not be the biggest whale, but it has the biggest brain to have ever existed on Earth

The Largest Animal Ever: The Blue Whale. The blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is a marine mammal belonging to the suborder of baleen whales. At 30 meters (98 ft) in length and 180 metric tons (200 short tons) or more in weight, it is the largest known animal to have ever existed.

The whales in the North Atlantic migrate to the Arctic during the summer and spring seasons. In the southern hemisphere, blue whales can be found migrating throughout Antarctica, although not much is known about the migration routes from the feeding grounds to the breeding grounds.

Blue whales filter their food through their baleen plates. Blue whales eat krill (euphausiids) and copepods. A blue whale can eat up to 8,000 lbs. of krill during its peak consumption period. It is estimated to take 2,200 lbs. of food to fill a blue whale's stomach.

Sperm whales make some of the longest dives achieved by mammals, with some lasting up to 90 minutes, while dolphins and other whales can stay underwater for 20 minutes
